After I sold my first company Bitmaker, I was directionless.
I was burned out, discouraged by the experience of building my first business, and totally lost as to what I should do next.
At the time, I didnāt have a personal brand that I could fall back on.
And while Iām a huge advocate that everyone should be building an online presenceā¦
It was a cold email that changed my life.
I once learned from Tony Robbins that āEmotion is created by motion.ā
And I was determined to overcome my feelings of depression and despair with action and momentum.
So I spent 3 days sending out 2,000 emails one by one.
Convinced that one email, one person, one connection...could change everything.
And it did.
I spoke to 140 people over the following month and a half.
And ultimately came across the opportunity to acquire the company I would rebrand into Herb.
A cold email transformed my future, and to this day I still regularly send cold emails.
What I love most about cold outreach is that you get to choose the recipient, giving you the opportunity to potentially connect with almost anyone.
And if you put in the right effort with your research and targeting...
You could have new clients within a few days from cold email outreach.
I recently closed over $36k in deals that came from cold emails I sent out, so I know itās possible.
Since cold email is such a valuable asset for growing your business, in todayās newsletter I wanted to share my cold email system with you.
If you take what I share with you here, you could 2x, 3x, or even 10x your business within just a few weeks.
There are only a few months left in 2023.
If you're a founder doing at least $5k a month and want to hit some serious milestones before the year ends...
Then you need to be inside Founder OS.

One of the biggest challenges people face with cold email is that they either cast too wide a net or target too narrowly.
You donāt want to just blast the first people you come across with an online business...
You need to make sure youāre targeting someone:
On the flip side, you donāt necessarily want to go through the profile of every single person you come across online.
Otherwise youāll waste a bunch of time on people who arenāt relevant...
Thatās why I recommend finding āpre-made listsā of your ideal clients.
Look for:
LinkedIn lets you search by job titles, which could quickly populate a list of your ideal clients with a couple of clicks.
I also recommend you take some time to think outside the box a bit, and brainstorm places where āgroupsā of your ideal clients might hang out.
For instance, groups of your ideal clients might be members of certain organizations or attend particular conferences.
After you have your āhit listā of people you want to contact, the next step is uncovering their contact details.
Now there are a couple of ways you can do this.
LinkedIn is a great place to start, as most people have their email listed.
If the individual you're targeting has a YouTube channel, their 'about' section often contains an email address.
You can also often find email addresses on businessesā websites.
These are all free ways to find contact details, and are good to know about.
However my favorite method is simply using the tool Seamless.ai.
Seamless is an incredibly powerful search engine built specifically for finding emails and phone numbers.
Itās my go-to, and will no doubt be a game-changer for you.
Once you have the contact information, itās time to craft your outreach message.
Remember, youāre showing up unexpectedly in someoneās inbox, so itās important for you to take time to customize your message whenever possible.
Hereās the template I use:
Subject: Want more [your promise]?
Hey [name],
I noticed [personalized intro]. I'd love to chat with you about how [our product can help you do ....].
Do you have 15 mins to chat on [insert date]?
You can try creating your own variations and then stick with the one that gets the highest response rate.
Hereās the reality of cold outreach...
Itās a numbers game.
Just some quick-and-dirty stats for youā¦
It takes an average of 8 touch points before a sale.
The average conversion of cold calls is 2%.
You could look at that and be intimidated, or think itās not worth it, but I look at it as almost a cheat code for success.
Very few people are willing to put in the work, and thatās why I know I'll win.
Because while fine-tuning your offer and audience is essential...success sometimes boils down to sheer effort.
Or in the words of someone much more successful than me, Alex Hormozi -
āMost people have a dramatic underestimation of how much volume it takes to be successful.ā
There you have it, my Cold Outreach System.
I hope you found that helpful.
Take some time this week to create your own "hit list" of people you're going to contact, and craft your own cold email template.
Once you do - hit me up on Twitter with what you came up with. (Feel free to share a screenshot and tag me!)
Let's win together š„
